How UpNext works

What is UpNext?

UpNext is an intelligent platform that helps you discover perfect movies and TV shows for you. Instead of wasting time searching for what to watch, we recommend personalized content based on your tastes and preferences.

We also show you which streaming platforms each title is available on, so you know exactly where to watch it.

1. Initial setup

When you first sign up, we ask you to select up to 10 movies or TV shows you like. This helps us understand your preferences and create a profile of your tastes.

💡 Tip: Select a variety of genres and styles to get more diverse recommendations.

2. Receive personalized recommendations

Based on your initial selections and your interactions with the platform, our algorithm shows you personalized recommendations on the main page.

Each recommendation includes:

  • Information about the movie or TV show
  • Platforms where it's available
  • Rating and reviews
  • Genres and description

3. Filter by mood and attention

UpNext allows you to filter recommendations based on how you feel:

Mood:

  • Relaxed
  • Light
  • Intense
  • Emotional
  • Reflective

Attention level:

  • Low - To watch while doing other things
  • Medium - Requires some attention
  • High - Needs your full attention

4. Organize your content

You can manage your titles in several ways:

Seen:Mark content you've already seen so it doesn't appear in recommendations.

Favourites:Save your favourites for easy access.

Watchlist:Create a list of content you want to watch in the future.

Not interested:Hide content you're not interested in to improve your recommendations.

5. Find where to watch

For each title, we show you which streaming platforms it's available on:

  • Watch on: Subscription streaming platforms where you can watch the content included
  • Rent: Platforms where you can rent content for a limited period
  • Buy: Platforms where you can buy content to watch whenever you want

Titles and descriptions are obtained from external sources (TMDB) and may not be 100% available in the selected language. We do our best to show content in your preferred language.

6. Search for specific content

If you have something specific in mind, use our search function. You can search by title, actor, or director, and you'll see results for movies and TV shows with all their information and streaming availability.

7. Improve your recommendations

The more you use UpNext, the better your recommendations become. The system learns from your interactions:

  • Titles you mark as seen
  • Ones you add to favourites
  • Ones you save to your Watchlist
  • Ones you mark as not interested

All of this helps our algorithm better understand your preferences and offer you increasingly relevant content.
